As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra
Trams and Public Transport Victoria are are repairing tram tracks
at Maribyrnong Road and Raleigh Road and installing new automatic
signal points at two intersections.
The tracks in the work zone are over 44 years old and areas need
to be repaired. The repair will increase service reliability,
safety and ride comfort for passengers. This new infrastructure
will improve operational efficiency and reduce the chance of

Major works will commence at 12:01 am on Saturday 28 April and
will continue 24 hours a day until 5am Tuesday 1 May.
Route 57 and 82 services will be affected.

Due to the nature of works, there will be two road closures on
Maribyrnong Road from 12:01am Saturday 28 April until circa 5am
Monday 30 April 2018.
Scotia Street / Epsom Road will be open for north and south
traffic movement with no access to Maribyrnong Road.
Van Ness Avenue will be right in and left out only, with no east
access to Maribyrnong Road.
If you live in the work area and would like to use your vehicle
please park in side streets noting the local conditions before
works commence. When safe to do so, assistance will be provided by
traffic controllers to move cars out of the work zone.
To finish the project changes to road access will apply from
circa 5am Monday 30 April until circa 5am Tuesday 1 May 2018:
The work zone will be fenced off for safety however footpaths
will remain open around the work area to allow pedestrian access to
businesses and residences located around the work zone.
Signage and fencing will clearly mark changes to footpath access
during the project.
Associated noise and dust from machinery, vehicles and work
crews will be unavoidable but we'll do all we can to keep this to a
minimum. The noisiest work will occur between 6am and 10pm; however
there may be a need to conduct noisy work outside these hours to
ensure that the work is completed by 5am on Tuesday 1 May 2018.
We advise that this work is being performed in accordance with
our obligations to Public Transport Victoria and is necessary to
maintain a safe tram network as required by the Rail Safety Act
