As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra
Trams and Public Transport Victoria are repairing tram tracks in
Parkville at Flemington Road between Eliott Avenue and Gatehouse
Street. New automatic signal points will also be installed at the
Elliott Avenue intersection.
The tracks in the work zone are over 50 years old and areas need
to be repaired. The repairs will increase service reliability,
safety and ride comfort for passengers. This signal upgrade will

Lane closures will be in place on Flemington Road between
Elliott Avenue and Gatehouse Street from 12:01am Saturday 26 May
until 5am Monday 28 May 2018.
Left-in left-out turns only will be in place on Melrose Street,
Curran Street, Dryburgh Street and Abbosford Street.
Finishing works will continue from 5am Monday 28 May until 5am
Tuesday 29 May 2018 to road access will apply from circa 5am Monday

The work zone will be fenced off for safety however footpaths
will remain open around the work area to allow pedestrian access to
businesses and residences located around the work zone.
Signage and fencing will clearly mark changes to footpath access
during the project.
Associated noise and dust from machinery, vehicles and work
crews will be unavoidable but we'll do all we can to keep this to a
minimum. The noisiest work will occur between 6am and 10pm; however
there may be a need to conduct noisy work outside these hours to
ensure that the work is completed by 5am on Tuesday 29 May

our obligations to Public Transport Victoria and is necessary to
maintain a safe tram network as required by the Rail Safety Act
